Review: Angry Orchard Traditional Dry Hard Cider

I’ve been drinking more cider lately, due to the warmer (Armageddon) weather we’ve been having in Atlanta. This is my first sampling from Angry Orchard, and I’m quite pleased. It’s not the best cider I’ve ever had, and has some tartness that lingers in the throat longer than I’d prefer, but I do like that it isn’t sickly sweet. I often have a problem with ciders like Woodchuck for being too sugary. If I’m going to get sick, I want it to be from the alcohol, not the sweetness. This cider actually ends up having a lot of Chardonnay qualities, and I bet I could fool an undiscerning tongue into thinking it was a wine. Drinking it from the bottle just feels wrong, so definitely serve this in a class, possibly even on ice. As a side note, because this is a cider, it is gluten-free.
My rating: 3/5 munchy apples.
